GUEST: How do you feel about the future of America? Will there be a lot of destruction? There have been many prophesies of that.
HANSADUTTA: With a little common sense, one will be able to tell whether it will snow or rain. Similarly, if one becomes a little advanced in Krishna consciousness, he will understand what the future will bring. The future of the whole world is very dark, because the whole world is godless. Everyone has rejected the authority of the Supreme Lord and is trying to manufacture his own authority in the name of communism, socialism and capitalism. We have created innumerable camps. Even among the so-called religious communities everyoen is fighting — the Christians, Jews, Muslims and Hindus. Everyone is at odds with everyone else, because of godlessness, and man has created terrible weapons that are capable of destroying whole cities in a moment.
Nature's law is that every action has a resultant reaction. Governments have created many atomic weapons, and in due course of time, when the karma, or reactions mature, these weapons will be used, and the whole world will be enveloped in the fury of war. That has already happened twice in our century during the first and second World Wars. Presently there are nearly a dozen countries that are at war. In Africa there is war. In the Middle East there is war. War is going on everywhere. It is simply a matter of time before it spreads and reaches America. When there is a disease in the body, first it manifests a spot here and a spot there, and when the disease becomes mature, suddenly the whole body becomes overwhelmed with fever, collapses and breaks down.
The world is headed for such a breakdown in the fever of war, and it is certain that these atomic weapons will be used. There is no precedent in history where men created weapons and then put them aside to become peaceful. Just as when a man marries, it is certain that he is going to have children, war is inevitable. It may begin today, tomorrow or after some years. Even if there is no war and everything remains peaceful and harmonious, we shall become old, diseased and die. In peace or war, everyone should try to become Krishna conscious and get out of this material existence, because in any case we will suffer the pangs of birth, death, old age and disease.
