WikiLeaks puts spotlight on self-defeating battle

With the WikiLeaks release of classified documents verified in conjunction with the New York Times, the Guardian and Der Spiegel, it ought to be obvious to everyone that the United States has been financing a war against itself.

They have been providing money to Pakistan for the war against terrorists, but within the Pakistani military are those who created and financed the Taliban.

U.S. taxpayers are spending billions of Congress-approved dollars in this war. A portion of that money goes to Pakistan and a portion of that finances the Taliban. The Taliban use that money to kill U.S., Canadian and other allied soldiers with costly weapons such as heat-seeking missiles. Such a missile brought down the helicopter of Master Corporal Darrell Jason Priede on May 30, 2007, and killed the Canadian military imagery technician.

No tax dollars for any spiritual cause (separation of Church and State) but it's okay that billions are spent on wars?
Where Does the Money Go? A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami

So much human energy is being diverted to making money, for the general population has increased its capacity to make more and more dollars, but in the long run the result is that this unrestricted and unlawful monetary inflation has created a bad economy all over the world and has provoked us to manufacture huge and costly weapons to destroy the very result of such cheap money-making. The leaders of the big money-making countries are not really enjoying peace but are making plans to save themselves from imminent destruction by nuclear weapons. In fact, huge sums of money are being thrown into the sea by way of experiments with these dreadful weapons. Such experiments are being carried out not only at huge costs but also at the cost of many lives. In this way the nations are being bound by the laws of karma. When men are motivated by the impulse for sense gratification, whatever money is earned is spoiled, being spent for the destruction of the human race. The energy of the human race is thus wasted by the laws of nature because of man's aversion to the Lord, who is actually the proprietor of all energies. more

Sacrifice money for Krishna lest Maya makes a sacrifice of you

excerpt from lecture at initiation ceremony, San Diego, June 30, 1972

Pious activities means yajña-dana-tapa-kriya. Pious activities means yajña [sacrifice], performing yajña - just like there will be fire sacrifice - and dana, charity, giving charity for Krishna's propaganda. The Krishna consciousness movement is making propaganda, so they require money. Money is Krishna's money. Everyone is holding Krishna's money. So the sooner they spare that money... Because if I am holding your money, if I give it to you, then I become released from my criminal activities. Suppose I have stolen something from your pocket and I become conscious, "Oh, this stealing is not good," so as soon as I return unto you, "Please take this money; I was mistaken," so thing is settled up. But if you hold it, then you are criminal. You will be punished. Similarly, everyone who is holding Krishna's money, not returning to Krishna, he is a criminal. He will be punished. How they are punished? That you have seen. In India, in recent... Everywhere, the same thing is going on. There was war between Pakistan and India. So all the rich men had to contribute fifty lakhs, fifty hundred thousand, according to everyone's capacity. Many millions of rupees were collected, and it was put into the gun powder – "Svaha!" [1] So if you don't execute this svaha, then you will have to execute that svaha. [laughter] [sings out the word "svaha!"] That's all. The Vietnam is going on – svaha! So many young men – svaha! So much money – svaha! You have to do that. Therefore better learn how to make svaha for Krishna. Otherwise you will have to make svaha for Maya [material nature]. That's all.

1. - "Svaha!", or "Hail!", is an exclamation used when simultaneously throwing grains into the fire during a fire sacrifice (agnihotra).
